Participant Infomation

Dear Grand Parade Participant,

Thank you for your entry in the 2012 Strawberry Festival Grand Parade.  This parade is one of the highlights of the festival, thanks to you!

YOUR PARADE PLACEMENT NUMBER WILL BE AVAILABALE ON OUR WEBSITE BY 5:00 PM THURSDAY, JULY 19.

PLEASE NOTE:  The parade starts at 11:00 AM, with the Children’s Parade leading. Please be in your designated area by 10:00 AM. 

You will need a parade pass to get through barricades between 8 AM and 9:30 AM. BE ON TIME! Road closes at 9:30 AM. – No exceptions!  Carpool whenever possible.  Designated parking is available on the east side of Vashon Highway with pass. The parade has grown to a point that we cannot safely place late-comers.  Late arrivals will NOT be allowed in the parade!

The following guidelines apply to all parade participants:

 

  • Parade groups are limited in length to 20 feet.
  • Children line up in front of the Methodist Church.  All children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the parade route.  Hold harmless releases must be signed prior to participation.
  • Remaining participants line up at Puget Sound Energy.
  • Absolutely no throwing of candy or other items, although we encourage handing out candy.
  • All equestrians must have two handlers each. All groups must provide scoopers at the end of each group.
  • All groups must have a Parade Marshal to help move the parade along in a fluid manor.  It is their job to control the pace of your group. Marshal vests must be worn.  List of responsibilities is available for your review at the Chamber office.  Return vest to Chamber booth #147 after parade.  $25 fee applies to unreturned vests.
  • Limited parking is available on Vashon Hwy SW - call for more information.

Your cooperation is appreciated in these matters and thank you again for your participation.

Call if you have any questions.  You may pick up parade passes and vests at the Chamber office, my office at Vashon Vintage Uptown (next to Island Quilter).  Please call in advance of pick-up.
